On historic Mountain Avenue in Fort Collins, this quaint brick residence has lived several lives—first as a home, later as a commercial office, and now thoughtfully restored to its original purpose. Our renovation began with a full interior gut, allowing the structure to be reimagined for contemporary living while honoring the character and scale that make the neighborhood so distinctive.
From the street, the home remains unmistakably historic, preserving its original brick façade and traditional presence along the avenue. Step inside, however, and the experience unfolds into a bright, modern counterpart: the rear of the home opens dramatically to walls of glass, filling the interior with natural light and creating a clean, contemporary connection to the backyard.
The design balances timelessness with livability—enduring proportions paired with refined craftsmanship and intentional, old-world materials. Walnut wood was used throughout the home in it’s doors, trim and coffered dinning room ceiling. Throughout the home, custom curved walnut doors add a subtle sense of artistry, softening transitions between rooms and elevating everyday movement with hand-crafted precision. Old-world details appear in thoughtfully chosen finishes, including a marble fireplace surround that anchors the living area with a sense of permanence and heritage.
At the core, an open kitchen and living room plan supports modern family life—welcoming, functional, and designed for gathering—while the juxtaposition of historic front and modern glass rear creates a home that feels both rooted and refreshingly current.
