Our client came to us with an opportunity to purchase a ‘dated’ 1980’s home uniquely located on a large lake with a boat dock – with killer views. However, the ‘traditional’ home did quite not suit their modern taste, so our interior design services were called upon. Also, because entertaining family and guests is not only a high priority for our clients, but something that they like to do routinely, they felt that the existing spaces were small and cramped.

After studying the original construction plans and consulting with a structural engineer, we discovered that there were a significant number of interior walls that could be removed. The second floor ‘loft’ area had been ‘walled’ off – we discovered that we could remove the upper floor walls giving us much higher ceilings for the first floor areas, and by adding glass railings naturally opened up the spaces from below. We also removed the small existing drywall and carpet stairs and created an open modern beautifully constructed metal and wood plank stairs with glass supports. The stair system was designed to give maximum open views to upper and lower floors from the main floor. Our client also has love for modern art and a collection that they wanted to display throughout the spaces- special care was paid to these locations and in providing the correct lighting.

Upstairs, we combined two small bedrooms to create one large guest suite with large private bathroom featuring floor to ceiling book matched marble slabs creating a luxurious backdrop for the freestanding tub and double vanity.

The downstairs basement provides entertainment and recreational spaces complete with a crystal foosball table and combination wineroom / bathroom.
