Scope of Work

Design-Build

Size

2,500 square feet

The design of the 2500 square foot residence focused on views of a Long Pond and intertwining outdoor space. Another key design goal was to implement active and passive solar strategies. Other energy-efficient design details include a robust mechanical system which utilized geothermal radiant heat supplemented by solar hot water, as well as an 8 kilowatt photovoltaic electrical system. The hall overlooking the lake is a key organizational element of the home as it forms a datum separates the spaces and helps to differentiate between public and private areas in the home. Every primary room has southern solar access and views of the lake. Featured spaces include a master bedroom suite, two additional bedrooms with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, open floor plan design with great room, kitchen and dining, separate his and her workspaces, and a two-car garage with workspace.

The design carefully knots new usable square footage into the existing roof volume by introducing new dormers that reflect the original historic character.
