The Metropolitan Downtown is a historic renovation in Downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming comprised of a high end restaurant and bar space. Adjacent to the Met is a full service event and banquet space called The Gallery at the Met. The concept for this project was to bring a sense of luxury to Downtown Cheyenne. Rich green velvet booths, brass detailing, and eye-catching light fixtures give the space the feeling of a modern, yet industrial, 1920s cocktail lounge; however, despite the striking design features, The Metropolitan is ultimately a Chef-driven restaurant. The owners recruited a renowned chef out of Denver to help craft this full functioning kitchen. The on-display expo kitchen has a 6 person bar area for special occasions while prep kitchen does the heavy lifting behind closed doors.

The front half of the restaurant features a centered bar located next to a glass floor that highlights the existing grand terrazzo staircase. Raw steel countertops and exposed structural columns highlight the industrial features seen throughout the space.

The banquet space is unique to Cheyenne in that it has a neutral design filled with textures to act as the perfect backdrop for any event. The tin ceiling tile installed throughout the space was originally covered up with layers of ceiling from throughout the 1900s. Thankfully, the tin was in good enough shape to repaint and re-install. Plenum soffits were added throughout the ceiling to divide the space and create areas to hide the mechanical equipment. Because of all the hard surfaces throughout the room, acoustical panels were added to every wall surface to absorb sound and make any event comfortable. The Gallery at The Met can accommodate groups as small as 10, to events up to 260.

Whether someone wants a glass of wine after a long day at work, or a beautifully located wedding reception, The Metropolitan Downtown has what you need.
