Little is an intimate neighborhood restaurant whose name is rooted in its original modestly scaled space built on the idea that great food and hospitality do not require excess. Our work focused on the thoughtful expansion of the restaurant, carefully extending the original footprint while preserving the warmth, approachability, and human scale that defined Little from the beginning.
Located along historic Mountain Avenue in Fort Collins, the restaurant acts as a true local eatery, embedded within the rhythm of the neighborhood. The owners’ commitment to hyper-local cuisine and seasonally changing menus informed every design decision. Just as the food responds to time, place, and craft, the architecture was conceived to feel grounded, honest, and welcoming.
Hospitality was a driving force throughout the project. The owners sought an environment that would elevate the guest experience without feeling formal or contrived—an atmosphere where attentive service, conversation, and community could naturally unfold. The expansion enhances flow and functionality for both guests and staff, allowing the restaurant to grow while maintaining its intimate character.
Materiality plays a central role in setting the tone. Concrete floors provide durability and simplicity, while exposed brick recalls the building’s history. Warm cedar ceilings soften the space overhead, and live-edge wood tables introduce a tactile, handcrafted quality that mirrors the care taken in the kitchen. Together, these elements create a refined yet unpretentious backdrop for the restaurant’s ever-evolving menus.
The result is an expanded Little that remains true to its name—rooted in craft, hospitality, and a deep connection to its place.
