This new headquarters for Baessler Homes is a blend of the comforts of home and the needs of a growing office. It was important for this client to have a space that reflects the work they do and the sense of family that permeates their company’s culture, so the design was built on this idea of blending residential and commercial aspects. Both the public and staff entries were designed around the idea of home, creating a large living room at the public entry, and a kitchen / living room / outdoor patio at the staff entrance that even includes a mud room as the entry point. Other comforts of home are also included throughout the building, including a private library nook, and several other soft seating areas tucked into halls for quiet work.

As a growing business, they have need of a variety of conferencing spaces of various sizes, including rooms specific for large training events and closing rooms, which were treated again more like comfortable living spaces. Their open office areas are split into five small spaces and organized by department, keeping them small enough to feel a sense of community and also alleviate some acoustic issues that exist in larger open office spaces. There are acoustic treatments throughout that are treated artistically, so they seem more like accent walls than a corporate solution, and a wellness room that staff can retreat to for a moment of peace.
