LEED Gold for NJC’s Applied Technology Campus

The Northeastern Junior College Applied Technology Campus in Sterling, Colorado has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizing the project as a leader in sustainable, high-performance educational design in northeastern Colorado. Designed by VFLA and originally targeting LEED Silver, the campus exceeded expectations through integrated energy-efficient systems, renewable energy features, and resilient building strategies tailored to Colorado’s climate. The 77,600-square-foot expansion and renovation supports advanced workforce training in diesel, wind, agriculture, welding, and electrical programs while serving as a living laboratory for sustainability and renewable energy education. This LEED Gold achievement reinforces VFLA’s four-decade commitment to environmentally responsible architecture and community-focused design across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.
